Spalding
Spalding Education International (SEI) was founded by Romalda Spalding, the author of The Writing Road to Reading in the United States of America. It is used with great success in the United States, Canada, Australia, Central America, Europe, Singapore and Taiwan. The method uses a total language approach to teach learners to spell, write and read, with a focus on comprehension if needed. It integrates essential research-based components, an educational philosophy, and a methodology consisting of time-tested principles of learning and instruction.
The Spalding philosophy is child-centered and instruction is explicit, interactive, diagnostic, and multisensory. Therapists model, coach and provide support as needed; students articulate, reflect, and explore new concepts. All elements of the language are integrated in spelling, writing, reading and comprehension. The principles of learning and instruction are applied throughout the spelling, writing, and reading curricula. The success of The Spalding Method is in large part due to the integration of scientifically-based content and methodology. For more information, please refer to www.spalding.org.
The therapist is one of the few therapists in South Africa who is Spalding qualified - trained in Sydney, Australia in 2012
