Speakeasy - Self Help Group
Speakeasy is a Self Help Group for people who stutter, their family and friends which is organised throughout the year at the Donald Gordon Medical Centre in Parktown. Speakeasy was started by a group of people who stutter, their parents and speech therapists to address the issues of prevention and treatment of stuttering South Africa. It has been running for over 20 years.
The meetings are used to discuss issues around stuttering, share new ideas and experiences, discuss feelings and to practice one's technique in a non-threatening environment. The aim is to have fun speaking!
